After a blistering weekend and win around the Indy circuit; Matthew and team arrived at the GP circuit for a round of the Bernie's v8 and outlaws series.
1st and 2nd of July, the height of summer. Also providing the wettest race in recent memory!
Matthew did a fantastic job to put the lotus on Pole overall in changeable qualifying conditions, especially of a 46 car grid!
Just half an hour before the race the heavens opened and there was a mad rush to get changing tyres.
Matthew decided to run on ao52's, predominately a dry tyre but soft enough to
preform in changeable and wet conditions.
Holding out for a drying circuit over the 40 minute race.
Lining up on the front row versus a well driven 911, not only well reknowned for having great traction in the rain but also on motorsport wets.
Over the first twenty minutes of the race the lead two pulled a 40 second lead in the wet conditions over the chasing pack, with Matthew keeping the lead Porsche in sights.
A driver change to his father Martyn who had to learn the conditions against solo drivers around him cost them vital time over the next few laps.
As predicted the circuit started drying; Martyn took fastest lap of the race as he started to eat into the gap to the leader. The clock run out just one lap to early for Martyn to overhaul the porsche for the win.
Pole position, fastest lap and second overall; not a bad weekend for the mighty little talbot sunbeam lotus and team.
